The Campsite
An appealing campsite
for a stay in the heart
of the Chartreuse nature.
Our pitches are created on the meadows of an ancient carthusian farm with visible stones. Over the years we planted trees, bushes, hedges and plants (port of refuge for birds and bees…) in the grassy meadow that delimits the spacious pitches. A comfortable toilet block was built in the centuries-old barn. Old wood and items from the past give a typical mountain atmosphere to our bar-restaurant” l’Atelier” where you can taste local dishes!
Families welcomed by families
Everything started in 1969, when Marc and Bernadette, Brice’s parents, started helping an old parent with his farm. At that time, campsites were rather rare, and Marc decided to transform the agricultural exploitation into a campsite, which should equal the campsite his mother runned since 1961 in Saint Hugues de Chartreuse. In the beginning, campers only asked for a place to set up their tent or caravan; they used the wood stove to heat water in a kettle which they used to wash themselves or to do the dishes. But very quickly the old barn was transformed into a toilet block. Over the years, trees were planted to delimit the pitches and to create shadow, and new infrastructure was created to satisfy the families that came more and more to the campsite.
Nowadays the Martinière campsite prospers in the area. We continued the arrangement started by our parents and try to conceptualise the campsite according to our dreams and convictions. We used the old items we found in the attic of the ancient farm: you can find them in the reception area, the restaurant and the wooden rentals. Some items even became bird statues! La Martinière is still a small scaled and genuine family campsite, connected to nature, where the new generation welcomes you.
